One little cable is all it takes to listen to your iPod, portable music player, or portable DVD player through your Sony Marine system (cable sold separately). No need to mess around with FM modulators to listen to your MP3 player in the car--the auxiliary input is built right into the face of the head unit, and even features an adjustable input level. All you need to do is plug and play.

The faceplate is also where you'll see the one-line white LCD display and switchable blue/red key illumination. You can tilt it from 0 to 45 degrees for easy viewing/use.

The sun's not the only damaging element out there... A conformal coating on the circuit board helps protect the electronic assembly from damage due to contamination, salt spray, moisture, fungus, dust, and corrosion, all standard fare in the harsh marine environment.

52 Watts x 4 High Power

The Sony Marine CDX-M10 delivers 52 watts of peak power to all four speakers for full-range, bass-pumping sound.

Rear/Sub Selectable Pre-out with LPF

If that 52 watts x 4 isn't sufficient, a user-selectable, 2V RCA preamp output with low-pass filter allows users to add and control additional amplifiers. Set to Rear or Sub depending on the appication.

Great for hot tub : Sony CDXM10 Marine CD Receiver Slot

I have a hot tub which had previously had a Pioneer stereo in it but it never worked.

I initially (naively) replaced it with a standard car stereo and as soon as a little water spilled over the side, the music stopped. That's when I discovered the whole "marine stereo" market. While I saw all kinds of options with iPod controls and bluetooth, I wanted something very basic. This unit fits the bill perfectly. It plays mp3 CDs, too, which is nice because you can fit a lot more music onto them.

The stereo is mounted into one of the outside walls of the hot tub -- paired with the Sony RMX11M wired remote, I can control most of the functions of the stereo from the comfort of the tub.

While the exterior is protected by a splash guard, I was a little worried about the humidity in the compartment under the hot tub -- so far this has not been an issue.

All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.
